Slack and Teams

Post alerts, digests, and scheduled reports to a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel.

A destination is a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel that receives a workspace's notifications through an incoming webhook. Destinations belong to the workspace: every member can see them, and owners and admins manage them under Workspace → Destinations.

Get a webhook URL

TypeWhat to createAccepted URL
SlackAn incoming webhook for one channel, from a Slack app in your Slack workspacehttps://hooks.slack.com/services/…
Microsoft TeamsA Teams workflow that starts from When a Teams webhook request is received and posts to the channelhttps://….environment.api.powerplatform.com/…

Teams destinations use Workflows (Power Automate). Office 365 connector webhooks and legacy logic.azure.com workflow URLs are not accepted.

A webhook URL must be HTTPS on the default port, with no credentials and no # fragment, and at most 2048 characters. Tracemill never follows redirects from a webhook.

Add a destination

  1. Open Workspace → Destinations and choose Add destination.
  2. Choose the type, give it a name (unique in the workspace, up to 100 characters), and paste the webhook URL.
  3. Choose Test and add.

Tracemill posts a test message — Tracemill notifications are connected — to the channel before saving. If the channel does not accept it, nothing is saved and the error shows the status the webhook returned.

The webhook URL is stored encrypted and is never shown again: the destination row shows only its host. To change it, edit the destination and paste a New webhook URL; it is tested before it replaces the current one. Leave the field empty to keep the current webhook.

Send test queues another test message at any time while the destination is on.

Choose what a destination receives

A new destination receives nothing. Choose Notifications on its row to open Notifications for name, which has the same sections as your own settings:

  • Alerts — the class × delivery matrix, with per-target overrides.
  • Digest schedules — the channel's daily and weekly digest times. They default to 09:00 UTC, weekly on Monday.
  • Scheduled reports — weekly or monthly posture reports posted to the channel.

Every member can view these settings; only owners and admins can change them.

Slack messages use Block Kit and Teams messages use an Adaptive Card. Both carry the same summary, Detection names, and link as the email version. Chat messages have no unsubscribe link: turn a class Off or delete the destination instead.

Turned off after failed deliveries

If the channel refuses three deliveries in a row because the webhook was removed, revoked, or archived (HTTP 401, 403, 404, or 410), Tracemill turns the destination off. Its status reads Turned off after failed deliveries, and messages queued for it are not sent. A successful delivery resets the count. Timeouts, rate limits, and server errors are retried and do not count.

To bring it back, choose Turn on — Tracemill posts a test message first — or save a new webhook URL. Owners and admins can also turn a destination off by hand with Turn off.

Delivery history

Deliveries on a destination's row lists what was posted to the channel and what was not, with the reason. See Delivery history.

Delete a destination

Deleting a destination stops posting to the channel immediately and removes its notification settings, its scheduled reports, and its delivery history. Reports it already received stay in the workspace Reports list. Type the destination's name to confirm.
